WELCOME NEWBIE
- Have I Got Garmin nüvi Resources For You

You may be new to your GPSr or just new to one of the models of the Garmin nüvi GPSrs and are searching for techniques and ideas for operating your device.

Unfortunately, as you have probably already discovered, the Garmin Quick Start Manual and the on-line Operations Manual for your unit are not quite enough. Some procedures are not covered in adequate depth and many procedures are not covered at all.

You will be surprised at the many extra operations that you can accomplish with your nüvi of which the general population is not aware. You have come to the right place.

The purpose of this
Garmin nüvi Tricks, Tips, Work Arounds, Hints, Secrets & Ideas WEB site is just that -- to provide you with the techniques of use and operation that are not in or are lacking from the manuals.

There are well over 100 articles here which can be of aid to you. More are added each month -- so keep on checking back.

Investigating them all, in one swoop, is a daunting task. The site is designed to be visited often so that you can experiment at your own pace -- article by article. You are given detailed instructions in an interesting and easy to follow manner -- with lots of photographs and screen shots to aid you.

This particular page is available to direct the new owner to some of the important articles that they could use to start their GPS learning journey. I will provide you with links to the articles to get you on your way.

You can do further investigation by using one of the several 'navigation' techniques available to you on this 'informative and fun' WEB site which has been in operation for over three years attracting a large international audience.

Have fun with your travels and using your GPS

THERE ARE THREE MAIN (AND SEVERAL MINOR) AREAS ON THIS WEB SITE -  Visit them all and use them efficiently. Details are in this article - "IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL NÜVI OWNERS - Use All Information Areas".

WANT TO START WITH THE VERY FIRST ARTICLE? - Excellent Choice. "YOUR HOME - Setting Your Primary Home" will not only instruct you with an important setting but will introduce you to the concept of a 'back-up' setting.

IS YOUR BATTERY LOW ON LIFE? - This helpful article will help you. "HOW TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR NÜVI BATTERY
- I'm Ever Ready With Hints To Conserve Your Energy".

ABOUT CHARGING YOUR BATTERY - "SENDING A CHARGE TO YOUR NÜVI - Using the AC Charger To Add Juice" A valuable tool you may want to consider.

A REAL BASIC INTRODUCTION TO CUSTOM POIS FOR THE NEWBIE - "STRICTLY NEWBIE - A LITTLE ON CUSTOM POIS
- Getting Started"

GET YOUR FEET WET WITH CUSTOM POIS (Points of Interest) - Excellent way of adding your own (or prepared lists) of locations over and above what Garmin provides you. With these you can even have voice and sound alerts to identify waypoints, speed and redlight cameras, and special locations such as parks, restaurant chains, monuments, etc. The learning process begins in a special Custom POI section.

HAVING THE INTERNET SEND 'FAVORITES' TO YOUR NÜVI - You can team sources such as MapQuest, Google and Bing with your GPSr. They can send waypoints (locations) and even routes (for some units) directly to your nüvi after you have identified them with their map, satellite and street views. There are several articles on the subject, but to start off you might want to read "IMPORTING FAVORITES FROM GOOGLE/MAPQUEST INTO YOUR NÜVI - 'How To' Techniques For On-Line Imports".
